California Based Furniture Brand Brings Sustainable and Unique Designs to the International Contemporary Furniture Fair
San Diego, CA (May 18, 2007) – Maku Furnishings, the Southern California manufacturer of contemporary home furnishings focused around an outdoor, lifestyle, and design heritage, will be making its global debut at the 2007 International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF) on May 19 in booth #2338. Maku Furnishings' product line is an assemblage of multi-functional outdoor furnishings inspired by the collective travels of California-based design enthusiasts, action sports athletes and iconic lifestyle personalities, making it a perfect addition to the distinctively innovative LEFT EDGE pavilion.
Maku's debut offerings consists of authentic and unique home furnishing products that are designed to mesh the aspirational west coast lifestyle with the organic indoor and outdoor living spaces in a way that appeals to consumers across the country. One of more than a dozen brands under the Left Edge marquee, Maku is well suited to join other innovative California based designers and their creations which are redefining contemporary designs in the home space.
Founded by action sports industry veteran Johnny West and business partner J. Michael Johnson, Maku represents numerous firsts and forward views for the outdoor furniture industry. With deep roots in the action sports industry, it is the only outdoor furniture brand to employ a team of professional surfers and snowboarders as brand ambassadors to help ensure authenticity. In addition, Maku is a member of One Percent for the Planet (www.onepercentfortheplanet.org) and will be working with communities throughout Southeast Asia to help educate the young people of an area that has long been a favorite destination of the global surf community.
All of Maku's seating and dining elements are manufactured with sustainable, plantation grown Teak utilizing both sustainable practices and attention to detail through the entire manufacturing process.

The Maku Furnishings collection is comprised of an assortment of entry way, deep seating and dining elements. The impressive entryway assortment of doorway pieces range in design from surf inspired "Stringer" and "T-band" doors that utilize a combination of Teak, Mahogany, Sonokeling, and Nyotah woods, to traditional solid teak interior and exterior doors featuring frangipani hand carvings. The seating and dining collections range from dining tables and chairs to deep seating sectionals, chairs, love seats, tables and other pieces. Maku's seating collection is offered with a variety of accompanying cushion colors, along with custom fabric and cushion options.
